Amy Sherald: Artist

Amy Sherald is an artist based out of Baltimore with an affinity to painting large-scale paintings with singular subjects.  She is has done solo exhibitions all over the states and won numerous awards.

Her paintings have long titles giving the viewer a glimpse into the mind of her subjects. The titles include "Fact was she knew more about them than she knew about herself, having never had the map to discover what" and "Try on dreams until I find the one that fits me. They all fit me".

Amy has been featured in GQ, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post etc. Amy has been selected by the former first lady Michelle Obama to paint her official portrait for the Smithsonian. http://www.amysherald.com/
